We’re accepting entries through the end of the day (11:59pm EST on 28 February 2010) for our Red Cross fundraiser to benefit Haiti Earthquake relief. Yes, there’s a $10 fee per entry, but half of your fee goes directly to the Red Cross, and the other half goes in the kitty for prize money for the show winner to be voted upon starting tomorrow. It’s a win-win scenario, and we like win-wins here at EBSQ! If you have a ready piece of heart-themed art, please consider entering Art from the Heart to benefit Haiti today!
Today is your last chance to add work for consideration for our very first brick and mortar event in conjunction with The Chocolate Shoppe. Candy entries will be accepted through 11:59pm EST tonight. It’s a fantastic looking show online and I for one cannot wait to see how the selected pieces will look in the space when they debut to the public on March 5, 2010. Wanna come to the opening? RSVP here on Facebook!
Also, while I have your attention with Vicky Knowles‘ lovely art, I’d like to remind you that we’re also accepting entries through the end of the month for our Red Cross fundraiser to benefit Haiti Earthquake relief. Yes, there’s a $10 fee per entry, but half of your fee goes directly to the Red Cross, and the other half goes in the kitty for prize money for the show winner to be voted upon by you next month. It’s a win-win, and we like win-wins here at EBSQ! Please consider entering Art from the Heart to benefit Haiti today!
February’s big date on the calendar is St. Valentine’s Day. Love it or hate it, Valentine’s Day is going to be everywhere you look. Not one to buck tradition (at last not this time), EBSQ is presenting a heart-themed show–with a twist. Because the need in Haiti continues to mount, we’ve turned this show into a fundraiser for the American Red Cross’s earthquake-relief efforts. There will be a $10 fee per entry. Half will go to the Red Cross. The other half will go to the Member’s Choice Winner to be selected by YOU at the close of the show. In additon, EBSQ is encouraging show paticipants to donate part (or all) of any proceeds that come from the sale of your entries to the American Red Cross (or another charity working to aid Haitian earthquake victims), although this is purely optional.
All entries in Art for the Heart should be heart-themed and may be any media or combination of media that the artist chooses.
We strongly recommend all artists include in their statement information about why and how they chose to create their piece, as statements can enhance the experience for the online viewer. We also encourage you to include detail shots of your entries. This will allow the viewer to fully appreciate your work as small details can be lost in an online environment.
Eligible entries must meet all points of the prospectus. If you have any questions regarding the prospectus and its requirements, please send them to firstname.lastname@example.org.
There is a $10 entry fee per piece entered and payable via our Chipin widget. $5 of each fee will go directly to the American Red Cross. The rest will go directly to the Member’s Choice winner which will be voted upon by registered site visitors between March 1-7 2010. All entrants which have not paid their fee by the end of February 2010 will have their work removed from the show.
To add an entry to any show:
- Upload your art or search your artcase for the piece you’d like to enter.
- Select “enter show” from the pull-down menu at the right hand side of this item (the default says “edit”) and click the “go” button.
- Find the show you wish to enter and read over the prospectus to make sure your piece meets all of the requirements. If you feel you’re good to go, click “enter.”
- That’s it; you’re all done!
EBSQ Artists are some of the most generous people I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. Within hours of the earthquake in Haiti, many of you started creating new works of art for the soul purpose of aiding the victims of this massive tragedy. To support your efforts, we’ve created an official Relief for Haiti Online Gallery.
Here’s how it works:
- All items in the Relief for Haiti gallery MUST be for sale to benefit Haiti through a legitimate charity.
- The charity must be explicitly stated.
- The percentage of the donation must be explicitly stated.
- If you’re selling it directly on EBSQ, you need to provide a way to pay for it (PayPal or Google checkout button)
- If you’re selling it elsewhere, you need to state where specifically it’s being sold. (Links to where that item is for sale would be a bonus since that makes your sale more likely.)
- Html challenged? Having problems linking? No worries. Just drop us a line and one of our staff would be happy to help you! This is definitely a labour of love for us.
(Members caught committing fraud WILL have their accounts terminated per our Terms of Service. This is non-negotiable.)
We anticipate keeping the gallery open through the end of February 2010.
Not yet a member? You can help Haiti just by joining! We’re donating $5 to the Red Cross for every new paid artist membership through Valentine’s Day 2010. So what are you waiting for? Join an awesome artist community and help us make a difference.
January is a time of new beginnings. It’s like a giant “do-over” where we annually give ourselves permission to do the things that make our lives and the world just a little bit better. It’s an excellent time to join a supportive arts community like EBSQ.
Need more of a nudge?
We’re donating $5 to the Red Cross for every new paid artist membership created through 31 January 2010.
Please help us support a neighbour that’s very much in need of a new beginning. See? Two great ways to start off this fresh new year all in one go.
Already an EBSQ member? Please text HAITI to 90999 and $10 will be added to your phone bill in support of the Red Cross’ relief efforts. We’ve heard that all US cell carriers have now dropped the fee (retroactively!) for these texts.
