This week’s EBSQ Blogger of the Week is an eBay Top Rated Seller with thousands of sales under her belt. She is known not only for her rich, whimsical paintings, but as much if not more for her folk art dolls. I’m proud to introduce Catherine Darling Hostetter!
Who and where are you?
I am a full time artist living in Salt Lake City, UT. I am passionate about art and love working in different mediums, I have been a member of EBSQ since 2002 or was it 2001? Anyway a long time. I sell my work online on eBay and Etsy as well as in some local galleries in Salt Lake, Park City, Utah and Evanston Wyoming.
How did you get started art blogging?
I enjoy writing so I fell into blogging naturally. I think it’s a great way to link people with my art and try to have something to show each time I blog. I feel blogging is also a great way to let people who buy my art get to know me better.
Any tips for other EBSQ art bloggers?
If you sell online, blogging is a great promotional tool. It’s a great way to toot your own horn so to speak. Also it is a great networking tool as you can link other artists to your blog and they can do the same for you. I find using twitter brings people to my blog and increases my following.
What’s your musical inspiration of choice when you’re working in your studio?
I enjoy listening to new age classical, as well more mellow music and it is a daily ritual. I always have something to listen to whether it be music or a movie such as one based on Jane Austen’s books.
What’s coming next from your easel?
Currently I am working on cloth dolls that I am painting with acrylic and also I’m painting on paper or canvas images that are similar to my dolls. I am making an effort to ‘brand’ my art by sticking with a certain style for more than a week! 😉
Thank you Cathy for being an EBSQ Blogger of the Week!
